The San Francisco Theater Festival is a unique summer event that celebrates live theater. It features approximately 125 different shows in over a dozen venues in just 6 short hours! The performances range from 5-30 minutes in length and include all kinds of theater: Shakespeare, comedy, drama, musical theater, improv, solo performances, one acts, excerpts, classics, new works & children’s shows …

An estimated 8,500 people attended the 2010 Festival, including families, teens, and adults. Our multicultural audience not only includes the Bay Area’s committed theater audience but also a large group of people just discovering the possibilities of theater. The festival provides everyone that attends the opportunity to learn about the wonderful quality and variety of theater available in and around San Francisco.
